FAQ-1 : How you can take current data Backup in a Pen drive?

Take Backup in a Pen drive (assuming your pen drive is F :\) of the following ways:

  • At Gateway of Tally, click F3: Cmp Info button (or press Alt+F3 keys)  to get Company Info Menu (F-1A/01-01). Select Backup to get Backup Screen (F-1)
  • At Source , the source data directory where data of the company is stored, is displayed.
  • At Destination field enter the pen drive path (e.g. F :\) where the backed up data would be stored.
  • Select the Companies to be Backed Up. Click Yes to start Back Up process.

A Progress bar shows the Backup operation and you get back to Menu. A Backup file “TBK 900.001” is created in the specified Destination drive (e.g. F :\) .

FAQ-2: How you can take Backup in a separate directory named “d:\Tally data Backup” in your hard Disk?

Take Backup in a separate directory “d:\Tally data Backup” as follows:

  • At Source field in Backup Screen, the source data directory (where the data is stored) is displayed.
  • At Destination field, enter the directory path name (e.g. “d:\Tally data Backup”) where the backed up data would be stored.
  • Select the Companies to be Backed Up. Click Yes to start Back Up process.
  • Click Yes to start Back Up process.

A Progress bar shows the Backup operation and you get back to Menu. A Backup file “TBK 900.001” is created in the specified Destination drive.

FAQ-3: How you can take Backup of 3 Companies in separate files?

When you backup in same directory, previous Backup of any company would be over written every time, because Tally creates Backup file with name TBK900.001 for all files. So, you have to create 3 separate folders to store Back Up for each company.

For example, you have 3 companies (Binapani Bhander, B.K. Pvt. Ltd. , ACC Corp. Pvt. Ltd.), Take separate backup as follows:

  • At Backup screen (F-1), select a company (e.g. Binapani Bhander). The data directory name appears at source drive field  
  • At Destination drive, enter the directory path name for the first company (e.g. “D:\Tally data Backup\Binapani) where the Backed up data of Binapani Bhander would be stored. After selecting the Company to be Backed up, select End of File from the list of Companies. The Backup file of the Company, named TBK.900.001 will be stored in the specified Destination drive

In this way, select the second company (BK Pvt Ltd) and enter the respective directory name at Destination (e.g. D:\Tally data Back up\ BK Pvt Ltd)

Similarly, select the third company (ACC Corp Pvt Ltd) and enter the respective directory name at Destination (e.g. D:\Tally data Back up\ACC Corp Pvt Ltd)

A Backup file named TBK.900.001 will be created in each of the 3 directories. From the folder name, you will be able to identify the name of the respective Company (because each of the Back Up file will have same name (TBK.900.001)
